KENMARE, COUNTY KERRY

An exclusive development of holiday homes and residential houses

Kenmare is situated in a region unsurpassed in the variety and unspoiled beauty of its scenery. It's Irish name 'An Neidin' gives an insight into its sheltered location surrounded by the MacGuillicuddy Reeks to the North, and the Caha mountains to the South.
Kenmare is a charming and picturesque town in the South West of Ireland. The Scenic town links the famous Ring-of-Kerry with the rugged and unspoilt beauty of the Ring-of-Beara. The town itself won the National Tidy Towns award in 2000 and is Kerry's 'First Heritage Town'.

Kenmare is one of Irelands premier planned heritage towns founded in 1670 by Sir William Patty. The Present design of the town, which was commissioned by Sir William's Descendant, William-Petty Fitzmaurice, the first marquis of Lansdowne, was completed in 1775.

Glanerought is the anglosised name for the Gleann Ul Ruachtaigh, the Glen of the Roughty River. Kenmare is the principal town of the Barony (town land) of Glanerought. The
Barony extends to Molls Gap just West of Kenmare along the Finnihy River to its mouth at Kenmare Bay. To the East to Loo Bridge. It is protected to the North by Mangerton Mountain and to the South it incorporates half the Northern side of the Beara Peninsula.

The town is renowned for its many restaurants. The streets are lined with cafes, pubs, galleries, boutiques and jewellery shops. Kenmare is one of the only towns with two five star hotels, Sheen Falls and The Park Hotel. The Park hotel has recently opened a multi million spa 'Sarnas'.

The surrounding countryside offers easy access to the Kerry's way and the Beara way walking trails. Kenmare is a paradise to the golf enthusiast with 2 eighteen-hole golf
courses, the Kenmare Golf Club and the Ring of Kerry Golf and Country Club. Water sports are in abundance with Sailing, Canoeing, windsurfing, pleasure trips along Kenmare Bay and deep-sea fishing. The many lakes and rivers surrounding Kenmare offers anglers the delights of some of the best fishing in the world.

Glanerought is located overlooking the picturesque town of Kenmare
