Former Dance Hall

From the mid 1940's this was the place to be seen. The dance hall operated as a dance hall until 1975. The original sprung maple floor still remains in this 12.9.1 sq m (1,390 sq.ft approx) building which is set on the shores of the Cloonee Lakes. The dance hall is now used to host local community events.

Pier

The small pier is ideal for mooring boats. The Cloonee Lakes are renowned for brown trout and some sea trout fishing. There is an option to purchase 6 lake fishing boats. A lease is required to fish on the lake.

History

Prior to 1922 The Lake House was a family business selling flour and meal to local farmers and a family home. In 1922 The Lake House was extended to include a bar, guest rooms, family residence, boats for fly fishing and pony trekking. In a family long established in hospitality it is run today by the fourth generation Mary O'Shea. The former dance hall was licensed for dances in 1945. The cottage/tea room was built in the 1950's.
